There is information on some important budgeting tips for planning a flawless wedding and in Spain.  Whether you are planning your own destination wedding or are simply captivated by the idea of a beach, castle or cliff top wedding venue overlooking a beautiful bay, then this blog is the start of planning your destination wedding journey.

Wedding Costs:  did you know that an average wedding budget is approximately £35,000, making you’re a destination wedding isn’t going to break the bank or burst the budget. No, the surprise is that it cost approximately £9,000 less to marry in the place of your dreams!

·       Venue: research several venues in the different regions of Spain.  If Costa Blanca is your choice I can help and there is a blog about some of my favourite venues in the region, check those out at HERE

·       Remember, costs will vary based on where they are located, size you need and what amenities they can offer.

·       Guest list:  sit down and make a list of who you would like to invite, who are the important people in your lives, close family, friends, people who have supported you through challenging events.  All of this will impact on your catering expenses, seating, invitations, wedding favours and so on.

·       Catering:  Spanish cuisine is delicious but may not be suitable for everyone attending and comes at varying costs. The type of meal service you want to include also needs consideration and you may need to contact potential caterers, especially if you have opted to have your wedding in a luxury villa.

·       Wedding Planner:  local knowledge is always an advantage, therefore, hiring a local wedding planner may be beneficial for co-ordinating vendors and finding the best deals.

·       Travel and Accommodation: include in your budget your travel and accommodation expenses but also put a travel and accommodation budget together for your guests, make it easy for them to budget and join you on your perfect wedding day.

·       Decorations and Flowers:  decide on a theme, just like you would for a wedding local to you allocate a realistic budget for your floral arrangements and decorations.  Some venues hire them, others have them included in their wedding package.  Make sure you check this out.

·       Photography and Videography:  what better way to capture memories of your perfect day than with the professional services of a photographer/videographer.  Check out my blog HERE about choosing the right photographer for you, it has some great tips to ensure you not only work with a photographer who is a good fit for you both but also how to make sure you capture the perfect memories.

·       Wedding Outfit: include the expenses for your wedding dress, what you transport it in, your wedding dress supplier is highly likely to be able to help, also remember it may need steaming when it arrives at its destination.  Don’t forget the groom’s outfit and the outfits for the wedding party.

·       Just in case! – do account for unforeseen expenses, there’s always something that crops up.  Plus, if you are looking to include unique elements to your wedding do budget for them.

Do set realistic expectations when making your budget.  Whilst weddings in Spain are generally less expensive than, say, France or Portugal, it doesn’t mean it will be a seamless process.  There may be currency differences to take into consideration and how your suppliers accept payment can affect your budget too.  Consider opening a bank account just for your wedding and make all your payments to your suppliers from this account remember, bank transfers can help save money.
