Your Dream Destination Wedding with Lovely Floral Inspiration

When planning your wedding in Spain, flowers play a central role in creating an elegant and memorable atmosphere. From the bride’s bouquet to the table centrepieces, floral arrangements reflect the couple’s style and the beauty of the season. Spanish weddings often embrace bold Mediterranean blooms, delicate pastels, or a mix of natural, rustic greenery. This guide explores the latest trends in bouquets and table décor, offering inspiration for a stunning floral touch to your celebration.  Here are some flowers to consider for your wedding, some of pictures are from one of my inspirational colleagues in Marbella, Laura Charles of Reviva Weddings.

  • WHIY I SHOULDN'T USE OLEANDER

While oleander is undeniably colourful and beautiful and grows all over Spain, it’s not a suitable choice for wedding bouquets or styling.  It’s such a shame as it usually a beautiful pink or white flower. Oleander is highly toxic and could pose a risk to both guests and handling florists. Opting for equally colourful yet safer alternatives ensure a worry-free and stunning floral display for your special day.

  • DELICATE AND BEAUTIFUL BOUGAINVILLEA

Bougainvillaea adds a touch of Mediterranean charm to any wedding, its flowers are very delicate, and it wilts and dies very quickly without water. While its strong colours are captivating, its fragility makes it less practical for bouquets. Instead, it shines as part of table styling, whether falling over centrepieces or arranged in soft, decorative clusters, providing a romantic and effortless look.

  • ORANGES AND LEMONS

Valencia, known for its citrus groves, and oranges and lemons offer a bright and colourful addition to any wedding floral styling - particularly the use of fresh oranges and lemons. These fruits not only bring to mind the region’s natural beauty but also bring a refreshing, perfume to your celebration.

For your bouquet, consider using lemon blossoms alongside white or cream flowers like roses or peonies. The soft yellow of the lemons will add a subtle burst of colour, while the blossoms will lend a sweet, delicate fragrance.

Incorporating oranges and lemons into your table arrangements can create a lively, Mediterranean feel. For an organic and rustic touch, cluster citrus fruits alongside greenery like olive branches, rosemary sprigs, or eucalyptus for a perfect mix of colour and texture. They’re also a beautiful addition to flower arrangements, with their bright tones providing a contrast to softer blooms.

Oranges and lemons make an ideal choice for couples looking to inject their ceremony with the beauty and culture of Valencia.

  • PEONIES AND ROSES FOR THE PERFECT BRIDAL BOUQUET

When it comes to creating the perfect bouquet, peonies and roses are a timeless combination that can complement any wedding style - whether it's classy, wild, elegant, or bohemian.

For a classy and elegant look peonies’ lush, full blooms paired with the soft, romantic petals of roses create a sophisticated and refined bouquet. Their soft tones of blush, ivory, or pastel pinks radiate elegance, making them perfect for a traditional or high-end wedding. You can even add some trailing ribbon for an extra touch of class.

On the other hand, for a wild and bohemian vibe these flowers work beautifully in a more relaxed, bohemian setting, similar to the one shown below at Oceana Club, Benissa By using a mix of wildflowers, greenery, and a variety of colours, you can create a more organic, untamed look. Peonies and roses, with their varied textures, bring balance and structure, even in a carefree, garden-inspired bouquet.

Beyond the bouquet, sprays of roses can add depth and beauty to your table styling. Scatter rose petals across your tables for a soft, romantic feel, or place small clusters of roses in low, wide vases for an elegant yet understated table centrepiece. Their rich colour and soft fragrance can also be used to highlight other elements of your wedding - such as decorating the ceremony arch, the wedding cake, or even your aisle runner.

Peonies and roses are incredibly versatile flowers that adapt to any theme, setting, or atmosphere. Their symbolism of love and beauty makes them a perfect choice for couples who want timeless elegance with the freedom to reflect their personal style.

  • ELEVATE YOUR WEDDING STYLING WITH MEDITERRANEAN TEXTURES

Miniature olive trees, rosemary, lavender, and hibiscus are wonderful additions to wedding styling. These plants not only bring a natural, Mediterranean feel to your tables but also complement and enhance colourful bouquets.

Olive trees add a touch of elegance, while rosemary and lavender bring a subtle fragrance that pairs well with vibrant flowers. Hibiscus, with its bold blooms, can inject a splash of colour, making it a perfect contrast to softer petals in the bouquet, remember though, Hibiscus like to have it's baeuty sleep nad closes when dark. Together, these elements create a look that ties the entire floral theme together.
